South Fremantle SHS’s mobile stage to be solar powered

Jessica NicoFremantle Gazette

AN innovative new creation is helping local student musicians take their performances to a wider audience.

South Fremantle Senior High School’s specialist music students now have access to a custom-built, sustainable, mobile stage that has been designed, funded and crafted by members of the community.

The solar element of the stage is still in development but when finished is expected to be completely self-sufficient, with the sound equipment, lighting and stage operation able to run off solar power.

South Fremantle principal Geri Hardy said the student no longer had to be limited in what performances they could do.

The solar powered system is expected to be finished by the end of the year.

The stage will be launched at the Grower’s Green Farmers Market on September 11 from 9am to 12pm.
