WHERE is Cara? How is she going? Is she coming back?
These are the questions staff at a Phoenix Shopping Centre optical chain fielded for more than three years after one of its most popular employees was forced to return home to Scotland.
Cara Liptrot’s initial stay in Perth was brief.
She moved to Australia in 2013, working at Specsavers Spearwood while on a six- month working visa before |returning to the UK.
While her stay was short, she managed to leave a lasting impression on all who met her.
That made it hard for some when she left.
Customers of the local store constantly asked after her, with some even writing letters to Ms Liptrot in Scotland.
Keen to see her return, and to put an end to constant queries about her, store co-owners Rachel Fellowes and Michael Swainson worked through the paperwork to allow Ms Liptrot to settle back in Australia.
“Coming back was a really easy decision to make,” Ms Liptrot said.
“Having customers ask about me and write to me was really heart-warming.”
Last week Ms Liptrot was reunited with one of her biggest fans, Coolbellup’s Kathy Dobson.
“Ms Liptrot loves it here so it’s a delight to have her back,” she said.
“This is a special young woman, an asset to the place.”
Mr Swainson said it was great have the popular employee back on board.
