State assets for sale

Staff ReporterFremantle Gazette

Premier Colin Barnett announced last Thursday that the Government would look to sell 20 land assets, including North Lake’s Industrial Foundation for Accident Prevention (IFAP) site, the Potato Marketing Corporation Headquarters in North Coogee, the old Fremantle Police Station, East Fremantle’s Kaleeya Hospital and Woodside Hospital.

Comprising almost nine hectares of land, Mr Barnett said the sale was needed to try to reduce the State’s debt.

‘These pieces of land, all in the metropolitan area and from a range of portfolios, would be better transferred to private ownership to be redeveloped or restored,’ he said.
