Students stick up for title defence

Riley Faulds and Ryan Pace were amongst the 16 best high school players in the state chosen to give WA the win when the best of the best from around the country come to Perth for the tournament.

Fremantle Hockey Club also has a strong showing in the selections, Riley joining Magpies teammates James Leigh and Trent Potter on the squad.

Ryan said his love of hockey grew from his uncle, who also represented WA, and he was eager to follow in his footsteps come August.

"Naturally I was very excited to find out I had made the team because I had been working hard for a long time and making this team was my ultimate goal, and so it was very rewarding to learn that I had made it," he said.

"I think the team has the potential to perform very well at nationals, and I believe that we are going to be quite successful."
