They were among more than 450 students from around Perth to receive a new bike as part of the community initiative, which was created last year to get teenagers more active.

The Happiness Cycle teamed up with Beacon Foundation, Coca Cola and the Bicycle Network to donate the bikes, as well as holding an event last month, which gave the students a chance to learn bike mechanics, core riding skills, road safety and endurance.

Bicycle Network chief executive Craig Richards said they were excited to be part of the project.

“Riding a bike gives students the opportunity to be more independent and connected to communities, and of course, gives them the chance to get active and improve health and wellbeing,” he said.
