On top of its search and rescue role, the organisation also provides support for aquatic-based sports around the Swan River, Fremantle, Rottnest Island and regional WA.
The groups job this summer has been made a little easier after Community TAB donated $40,000 to go with the two rescue-modified Yamaha jet skis donated last year.
Fremantle Sea Rescue president Cameron Macmillan welcomed the support.
In an average year our 100-plus volunteers respond to over 700 calls for assistance, he said. The Community TAB Services Unit will help us provide a new level of service into the future.
TAB chairman Jeff Ovens said they hoped the funding would help the important volunteer service.
The Fremantle Sea Rescue crews are being more frequently called to assist people in danger in the water such as kite-surfers paddlers, swimmers and divers, he said.
