RICHELLE Mondello says she considers Karla Little more of a friend than a client.

The Life Without Barriers support worker began assisting Ms Little, who has cerebral palsy and an intellectual disability, 18 months ago.

The pair quickly formed a strong friendship.

Ms Mondello, of Beeliar, helped Ms Little set up a dog sitting service six months ago and her list of clients is growing all the time.

Most Thursdays the duo can be found walking dogs at South Beach or a local park.

Ms Little said the venture kept her busy.

“Before I used to get lonely,” she said.

“Now I get to meet new dogs and animals every day.”

To say thanks for helping her “open up”, the Spearwood resident nominated Ms Mondello for a Disability Support Award.

Ms Mondello said she was privileged to be nominated but the relationship worked both ways.

“Every day is a different day,” she said.

“We’ll be walking the dogs one day, going for drives and listening to music the next.”

Award winners will be announced on Saturday.
