RSPCA WA chief executive David van Ooran said the charity helped animals across Western Australia.
‘Even though animal cruelty is something people find hard to think about, the fact is that every dollar counts when it comes to our rescue work and we’d encourage anyone who wants to support us to jump on board and become part of this important fund-raiser,’ he said.
The Australasian Maritime Institute in Henderson is one of the many companies getting involved.
General manager Michael Rideout said they had been looking to support more community projects close to their hearts.
‘I think that how a society forms its relationships with its animals is in direct correlation to how it treats each other,’ he said.
‘If hardship befalls a person, a community should surround that person and support them back to a good place. The same should be said for our pets.’
