Tarren trying to bake the world a better place for animals and RSPCA

Jessica NicoFremantle Gazette

LIKE almost every nine-year-old, Tarren McDougall loves animals.

The South Fremantle youngster loves animals so much, she, with the help of her mother Rogene and a few neighbours, will be whipping up a storm in the kitchen to make batches of cupcakes to sell and raise money for the RSPCA.

Tarren said she loved the RSPCA because they tried to help animals and was hoping to sell many cupcakes so she too could help.

“I will sell them at the front of my house and I will put signs up at the end of the street and notes in my neighbours’ mailboxes,” she said.

“Lots of people walk down our street with their dogs on the way to the beach so I am hoping to sell lots to cakes.

“My target is $500 but I will try and raise as much as I can, I really hope to raise $1000.”

RSPCA WA community engagement executive manager Maree Daniels said Cupcake Day for the RSPCA was a major fundraiser for the organisation, and would help them continue their work caring for thousands of animals who came into their care every year.

“By participating as an RSPCA Cupcake Day Host or simply by indulging in a cupcake event on the day, you’ll be supporting the fight against animal cruelty, helping to keep our inspectors on the road and assisting with the rehabilitation we provide through our Animal Care Centre,” she said.

“Every dollar counts when it comes to our rescue work, and it’s fantastic that so many local animal lovers choose to sign up and help us to raise much-needed funds during Cupcake Day.”

Cupcake Day for the RSPCA is on August 15.
