Teddy bears make picnic a special day

The kindergarten and pre-primary students not only got to spend a day with their favourite bears and enjoy lunch with family and friends, the special day also gave them the chance to learn about the life of bears through songs, crafts, games and nursery rhymes.

Teacher Sarah Priest said it was a positive way for students to be involved in a school event with their parents and caregivers.

“The children had a thoroughly enjoyable day,” she said.

“We wanted the children to bring a teddy from home as this created a link between home and school, therefore increasing their identity and feeling of belonging.

“We like to foster parent and community relationships as we feel that this strongly improves behaviour, learning outcomes and again, a feeling of belonging for the children.”
