It’s understood the Torgoyle Road property was bought privately two years ago, but has remained empty ever since.

Mr Logan said he was disgusted with the state of the home, which has been damaged by vandals and used as an illegal dumping site.

He said he would write to the city council demanding it order the owner to either clean the place up or demolish it.

‘The house and property is now a fire and health hazard,’ he said. ‘Locals have told me wild dogs have been living in there and tyres and rubbish dumped all over the place; it has to be knocked down as quickly as possible.’

Neighbour Katie Nikolich said she was keen to see something done.

‘Recently there was rubbish thrown everywhere and dogs must have got to one of the bags, it stunk that bad,’ she said.

‘We would like something done. Either fix it up or cover the windows or something because it’s bad. There’s a future here for people but it’s bad when homes are just left like that.’

A City spokesman said the home had not been brought to the council’s attention previously.
