But hosts of a 1950s party at the Jean Willis Centre last week showed no fear under pressure, with their trip down memory lane a rousing success.
The theme for the week was an American diner, with hotdogs, fries, ice-cream sundaes, a jukebox and rock and roll all on the menu.
Day centre co-ordinator Jill Howard said the party was about getting people to have fun.
‘We made mobiles from old 45 records, put old movie posters around the room and had great cakes that look like old records,’ she said.
‘The best part was watching the staff and clients interact, dancing with each other and enjoying themselves. A chance to get into a fancy dress costume is always a good thing.’
