Things to get hot and spicy in Freo

The annual festival will take over Esplanade Reserve in Fremantle on March 12 and 13.

To add a bit more spice to this year’s festival, a Bollywood theme has been announced.

Everyone is encouraged to go along and experience the wide range of stallholders showcasing the use of chilli in beer, cocktails, sauces, dessert and much more.

Challenge your taste buds with Perth’s hottest chilli sauce or buy your own chilli plant.

Top WA chefs will also demonstrate how they take food creations to the next level using the much-loved ingredient.

Bollywood entertainment will be provided by The Spice Merchants and Spare Parts Puppet Theatre.

If things get too hot to handle, sit back and relax among the pines and enjoy the live music or meet the crew from Mix 94.5.

The Araluen Chilli Festival started from humble beginnings at Araluen Botanic Park, Roleystone in 2003, but moved to Fremantle as it grew.

It has become one of Perth’s major cultural events, attracting about 20,000 people yearly.
