THREE Fremantle residents have been recognised for their contribution to the arts, named State Living Treasures.
Ceramic artist Pippin Drysdale, author Joan London and puppeteer Noriko Nishimoto (pictured) were among 15 people recognised with the honour for their lifetime contribution to the industry.
Arts Minister John Day said the awards recognised and celebrated the role the recipients had played in developing their craft.
“The 15 exceptional recipients of this year’s awards have made a defining and long-term contribution to Western Australia’s culture, history and arts,” he said.
“With careers spanning 40 to 60 years, our Living Treasures have become leaders in their respective fields, providing enjoyment and entertainment to communities throughout the world.”
