WHEN 17-year-old Nelson Tshongo entered the Halogen Australia Imagination Exhibition earlier this year, he had no idea it would culminate in him spending a week aboard a tall ship travelling up the WA coast.

By taking part in the exhibition, the high school student won the chance to spend a week aboard the STS Leeuwin II, travelling from Fremantle to Monkey Mia in what he described as an experience he would never forget.

“Going on a voyage with the Leeuwin Ocean Adventure has been a great experience upon which I have been able to build my leadership skills,” he said.

“I count myself very lucky to have had such an experience which I’ve been able to implement in my daily life and to my college.”

Halogen chief executive Samantha Skinner said their partnership with the Leeuwin Ocean Adventure Foundation helped young people improve their leadership skills, something both organisations valued highly.
