Tour keeping singer busy

WHILE most people will be wrapping up their work for the year in the lead-up to the Christmas break, musician Catherine Traicos is keeping herself busy performing shows all around Australia.

Around the same time Santa is putting the finishing touches on the presents he needs to deliver, Traicos will be bringing some pre-Christmas cheer to Fremantle on Sunday.

Joined by her band The Starry Night, Traicos will thrill music lovers with her mesmerising voice and hypnotic sound with songs from her latest album The Earth, The Sea, The Moon, The Sky.

She said the tour had been going well, with great shows in Melbourne and Sydney, but she was eager to play in Perth. ‘We are very much looking forward to playing in Fremantle,’ she said.

‘Half the band is from WA and a lot of close friends and family are going to be there which always makes for a special show. Not to mention the pure beauty of Fremantle itself being an attraction.’

She said it was hard to explain or justify her love for music other than it fulfils her needs in life, and she was hoping the audience would feel the same. ‘It’s important to go out and see live music rather than staying at home and watching television or playing Xbox, in order to maintain a healthy cultural landscape in this country,’ she said.

‘We love playing live, we have a critically acclaimed live show and you’ll leave feeling a nice warm fuzzy sensation that everything’s just as it should be.’

She will be performing at the Fremantle Arts Centre on December 22 from 2pm. Entry is free.
