THE UWA music student was also one of a handful selected to take part in the West Australian Symphony Orchestra Young and Emerging Artists 2014 Composition Project.
The project gives Mr Holdsworth and four others the chance to forge a career in composition by working alongside 15 WASO musicians and leading Australian composer James Ledger.
Mr Holdsworth said that while taking classical piano training during high school, he started writing piano miniatures, which led to a ‘vivacious ardour’ for composition.

‘I write music because for me it is the ultimate expressive force and some things I feel I can only express through music.
‘I am very serious about my music and intend to pursue a professional career in classical concert music, as well as scoring music for film and television.’
