East Fremantle’s Cathie O’Neill and Fremantle’s Isabel Busch received Outstanding Service awards at the Parks and Wildlife’s Volunteer of the Year award ceremony in recognition for their contribution to protecting WA’s environment.

Ms O’Neill volunteers for the Swan Estuary Reserves Action Group while Ms Busch is a volunteer on the Bibbulmun Track.

Ms Busch said it was special to have hard work formally acknowledged.

‘Volunteering has been an important part of my life for over 40 years and my current involvement with the Bibbulmun Track Foundation started in 2005 after I had walked the track from end to end the year before,’ she said.
