WA Education Awards: Aubin Grove PS claims two big wins

TWO local schools have claimed honours at this morning’s WA Education Awards, recognising the state’s best public schools, principals, teachers and support staff.Aubin Grove Primary School was named Primary School of the Year, holding off Ballajura Primary School, Clayton View Primary School and Rosalie Primary School to claim the win.

Aubin Grove principal Frank Pansini, who has been in the role since the school opened in 2011, claimed the Primary Principal of the Year title.

He was named ahead of principals from Wembley Downs PS, Joondalup PS and Caladenia PS.

“I’m so proud of the whole school for reaching this point after just six years,” Mr Pansini said.

“We set our sites on being the best school we could be but we didn’t ever think about winning awards.

“It’s great recognition for all the work that has been put in.

“We’ve got a rare combination of staff, students and parents all onside working together to reach the same outcome.

“We put the kids first and the convenience of adults second.”

Also among the winner’s was John Curtin College of the Arts, which claimed the title for WA Secondary School of the Year.

The Fremantle-based specialist school was named ahead of Ashdale Secondary College, Australind Senior High School and Melville Senior High School.
