Bryce LuffFremantle Gazette

THIRTY-FIVE walkers will tackle a 24-hour stair challenge for a friend with cancer.

Atwell College teacher Coralie Good was diagnosed with kidney cancer in April.

To give her the best chance of fighting the disease, a group of walkers will tackle Manning Stairs in Hamilton Hill for 24 hours straight.

The aim is to raise about $30,000 to take the day-to-day pressure off Ms Good, and let her focus on getting better.

Relay organiser and local personal trainer Karen Letch said 35 walkers had signed up, with more to come to support.

“The reason I chose the steps and a 24-hour relay is because someone living with cancer lives with it 24 hours a day, taking one step at a time,” she said.

Ms Good, who started chemotherapy last Wednesday, said she was overwhelmed and humbled by the support.

The event will start at 10am on June 12 and wrap the following morning.
