ABOUT 60 people turned out to pay tribute to Australian Diggers during last week’s Remembrance Day service in Hamilton Hill.
As it does for many services each year, the Cockburn RSL organised the tribute at the Memorial Hall.
RSL secretary Dale Olson said the emotion around the event was as strong as ever.
“You have conversations with people and they tell you about their family members who fought all those years ago,” she said.
“But what we’re seeing more of is people coming to these services and telling us about those they know who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“It’s amazing to think about and recognise the history of war 100 years ago. I’m sure it will be the same in another 100 years.”
