Week celebrates volunteers

Among the thousands being thanked for their efforts were mother and daughter team Wilma and Vanessa Pedrosa, who have been volunteering at Fremantle's Oxfam Shop for years.

Wilma started volunteering at the store in 1993 and was there for five years before becoming a paid employee, while Vanessa started volunteering straight out of high school.

Wilma said she was inspired to volunteer after seeing the work Oxfam did.

"Working for Oxfam has allowed me to work in an organisation known worldwide for its ethical work practices and valuable human rights campaigns," she said.
