TWIRLING, and falling, on the ice will again be possible after Winter Festival organisers announced this morning the popular event would return to Fremantle.

Australia’s largest pop-up ice rink will again call the Esplanade Reserve home as part of a winter wonderland that also includes a two-storey wrap around bar serving hot beverages, family entertainment and last year’s popular inflatable pop-up slide.

The Event Agency’s managing director Nikki Graski, whose organisation has teamed up with PopcornX to bring the event to WA, said after last year’s success, returning to Fremantle was a must.

“We were overwhelmed with the positive response we received from Western Australian’s last year wanting to get outdoors in winter,” she said.

“We have really listened to everyone’s feedback, applying a number of patron suggestions to this year’s festival.

“This year we will have cheaper ticket prices, additional activities and most importantly more winter date nights.

“We look forward to working with the City of Fremantle and the Fremantle BID again this year to bring a European winter to Fremantle for the second time.”

Fremantle Mayor Brad Pettitt said the festival transformed the Esplanade into a unique outdoor winter experience.

“The event adds a special magic to Fremantle in winter, making it the perfect time to enjoy some winter shopping, dine out with friends and discover local music talent at the Hidden Treasures winter music series,” he said.

Winter Wonderland will be at the Esplanade Reserve from June 24 to July 17.
