Winterfold Primary School students find it’s in their nature to play on new facility

The school P&C saw a need for more active outdoor options for its students and set to work providing just that, from designing the layout to fundraising and applying for grants and working alongside the builder.

Using the contours of the land as well as recycled and natural materials, the new play area includes climbing features, a slide and balancing ropes and stones.

Winterfold Nature Play team member Karen Sanders said the playground had been a community effort and they were very happy with the result.

“Play options for the children had included hard surfaces, standard play equipment, and two large oval spaces and we believed it would be really good for our kids to have play options that reflect the natural environment here at our school,” she said.

“The kids have absolutely loved the area.”
