A TALENTED South Lake dancer is off to Victoria after securing a berth in the Follow Your Dreams national finals.

Lyra Senkeldam secured her spot in the competition following a great hip hop solo in the October state finals.

The seven-year-old’s mum Nat said the competition was a chance for her daughter to do what she loves.

“It’s exciting but it’s more than just about the opportunity,” she said.

“It’s great to see a young girl doing what she loves.

“What made us push to get across to nationals was how happy and supportive she is of the other dancers.

“She loves the dance environment.”

Mrs Senkeldam said Lyra, who trains at Dance HQ in Jandakot, has been “dancing before she could walk”.

“If it has a beat, she’ll dance,” she said.

Lyra will leave Perth for Ballarat on January 3 with her mum and coach.

The competition runs from January 5 to January 8.
