Brenton Panzich, from Jandakot, Chanelle Zubrinich, from Beaconsfield, and South Fremantle’s Alex Hamilton have been selected to take part in the six-day event, which provides young people with an opportunity to engage in civics and citizenship education.
Mr Panzich, who studies at Murdoch University, said he enjoyed politics because it involved compromise, self-discipline and negotiation skills.
‘In a representative and free democracy such as ours, every individual is entitled to their own opinion and it is very unlikely that two individuals will ever have the same viewpoint on everything,’ he said.
‘I hope to be able to increase and further develop my public speaking and debating skills.’
The YMCA Youth Parliament runs from July 7 to 12.
