DOROTHY Davidsons recent letter cannot go unanswered: she is the one who is naive to believe that after this highway is built Bibra Lake will be much enhanced.
With the destruction of more than 100 hectares of pristine native bushland and wetlands, which are home to many endangered species including the Carnabys black cockatoos, this cannot possibly be a true and accurate statement.
I can’t believe that there are still people who believe what is coming from the Government.
Its own modelling shows that congestion will not be reduced under this proposal and that there will be zero difference in the numbers of trucks using Leach Highway, especially if it is going to be a toll road… WAs first toll road about which the Government is quiet.
It is also going to be the most expensive road, costing more than $100 million a kilometre.
I know Tony has pledged $0.9 billion, but it is still our taxpayers money spent on a road to an ageing, undersized port that will be at its capacity by 2025.
In addition, we don’t even know (because the Government is too scared to release the plans) just how much it is going to cost to upgrade the Stirling Bridge to take all these new trucks.
JO RICH, North Lake.
