Well, count me in.

I’ve been distance swimming at suburban beaches for the past 50 years and not had a nibble. This absurd idea of bait lines a kilometre away from the shore is ineffectual and potentially dangerous to swimmers as it attracts sharks to nearby swimmers.

Why not throw some burley in as well to really attract them in closer to swimmers?

Sid’s right about one thing though. He mentions a recent photo of ‘a grinning local fisherman’ with ‘an enormous bass groper’ caught after a 45-minute fight.

Somebody for a thrill all in the name of sport caught that beautiful, mature creature.

Sid’s disgust is palpable, justified and shared by me.
