Great memories of South Fremantle Football Club

Charlie Gibson, FalconFremantle Gazette

PEOPLE often ask me how did I become a South Fremantle supporter as I was only a little Pommie migrant who lobbed here in 1947 at the age of seven.

My answer was the Hamiton Hill boys, in a nice way, gave me an option… South or East. They were East so I picked South… and ran.

I grew up following my great team and even later in years used to drive them on bus trips with the then MTT.

I was rapt to see Maurice Rioli and yes, the legend from East Fremantle, Ray Sorrell, entered into the Hall of Fame. Great memories of the greatest ball game in the world.
