No jacarandas

I have written and also spoken to Cockburn council expressing my concern at the unsuitability of planting jacaranda trees along the narrow road verges and under overhead powerlines on Winterfold Road in Coolbellup and Hamilton Hill.

The person I spoke to at the council was not interested in what I had to say and was not going to change his position about this choice of tree. Council no longer gave residents a say in the choice of trees or whether or not they wanted one planted on the verge. Everyone had his or her own agenda and nothing moved forward.

Australian natives would be a better choice as they provide habitat and food for our birds. This is especially important when much of our well-established native trees and flora are destroyed to accommodate higher-density housing.
