Not very flash

Janice TeoFremantle Gazette

I WAS surprised to read of Transport Minister Dean Nalder's feel-good announcement that the State Government will spend $20 million to install flashing 40km/h signs at schools.

The Government's record in the Fremantle area is poor. There is only one school that has flashing signs, located on Forest Street.

Busy East Street was promised a sign, as was Fremantle Christian College on Rockingham Road, but they haven't gone up yet.

Rather than making flashy announcements for the media, the Minister could make sure these signs actually start flashing at Freo schools soon.
