Plan inappropriate

FREMANTLE council will vote this month on an officer’s recommendation to give a 21-year lease for a large drinks barn and concert venue for up to 1500 people in and around J shed at Arthur Head, an A class reserve.

Mayor Brad Pettitt’s comments on the heritage of Arthur Head on his blog on February 11 read:

‘A key issue is that this is obviously in an area that is one of the most significant areas in terms of WA’s history and heritage. It would be fair to say that most of the lease area is where a large cliff once stood before it was chopped up to make Fremantle Port.
