Roe 8 solves nothing

I also know the damage they caused to property and structures. I also now live near where the Roe 8 extension is planned.

The Tonkin/Reid highways are fine and somewhat necessary as long as you are not stuck in traffic there each day, as what is happening nowadays.

I am not against sensible road extensions and improvements to traffic flow that help businesses, the environment and ease the congestion we see today and that is a growing problem.

Why not build or extend a rail system that carries containers to a location closer to the port as it allows multiple containers to be moved in one movement rather than have several trucks moving individual containers multiple times?

The trucks can pick up the containers from a depot located closer to the port without travelling through residential areas.

It removes residential noise, pollution, damage to properties (less compensation to homeowners) and resulting in somewhat less congestion in many areas that several trucks would be clogging up.

The Kwinana Freeway with the extra lane and duplication of the Narrows Bridge, as necessary as they were, have not eased the congestion we see in the mornings and in the evenings.

My point is to ease congestion with an ever-increasing population we have to change what we have been doing to this day, which has been a failed solution i.e. build more roads.

Diversion is not a solution as it moves the problem from one area to another without removing the problem – the amount of vehicles being used.

I oppose the Roe 8; it’s my opinion that it will solve nothing and cost us millions.
