AFL Rookie Draft: Dockers take Claremont’s Bailey Banfield with pick 5, West Coast recruits two local youngsters

WITH just a few chances to make an AFL list up for grabs in Monday’s Rookie Draft, five WA players will now get to realise their dream.

Claremont’s Bailey Banfield was the first WA product to make a team after he was taken by Fremantle with pick 5 while South Fremantle’s Ryan Burrows will be on a West Coast list alongside Claremont’s Callan English after they were taken with pick 13 and 35 respectively.

Subiaco’s Liam Baker (pick 18) will go to 2017 premiers Richmond while Perth’s Gordon Narrier will join him in Victoria after he was selected by North Melbourne with pick 20.

They join 15 WA players recruited through Friday’s AFL Draft.

Both WA teams looked interstate for their final picks, with Fremantle recruiting South Australian Stefan Giro while the Eagles added Northern Territory’s Tony Olango.
