THE inaugural season of the AFLW was a booming success, and now local footballers can try out for a chance to be involved in next year’s competition.
Nominations are open for the Fremantle Dockers’ AFL Women’s talent search day on September 9, the event a chance for local footballers who are eager to nominate for the 2018 draft to show off their skills and ability.
Fremantle Dockers AFLW coach Michelle Cowan said the talent search day was targeted at players with football experience in the last three years.
“This year was an exciting one for the club and it was great to be part of the inaugural year of AFLW,” she said.
“2018 is shaping to be even more exciting and we still have 10 spots to fill heading into the national and rookie draft.
“We’re looking for players who wish to nominate for the draft, who think they have the football and athletic ability to compete at the elite level.
“It is a great time for female football right now so we are looking forward to getting plenty of nominations.”
The event is on at Victor George Kailis Oval at Cockburn Arc from 9am-noon on September 9.
Nominees must be 18 or older as of January 1 2018.
Players can nominate at www.fremantlefc.com.au with nominations closing on August 28.
