ALEX Silvagni will play no further part at Fremantle after being told his contract would not be renewed for 2017.

The defender notched up 53 games across seven seasons at the Dockers after being drafted from the Casey Scorpions via the rookie draft.

Football operations manager Chris Bond said the 2014 best clubman was a quality person held in high regard.

“Alex came to the club via the rookie list and worked really hard to get elevated to the primary list and play a fair bit of senior footy in his debut season,” he said.

“Unfortunately opportunities for Alex to secure a regular spot in the senior side in subsequent seasons were hampered by injury.

“Throughout that time though, Alex always displayed the many fine attributes that make him the quality person he is, and saw him held in the highest regard by everyone at Fremantle.

“We thank Alex for the contribution he made to the club both on and off the field, and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.”

Silvagni’s departure came just two days after midfield Michael Barlow announced his time at the club was up.
