ASHTON Turner finished 100 not out to drive Fremantle to a healthy 9-366 in the first innings of its clash with Rockingham Mandurah.
After losing the toss and being sent in to bat at Lark Hill, the Port Boys lost Chris Chellew cheaply before the runs were piled on.
Chris Wood (71 from 153) and Sam Whiteman (83 from 112) shared in a 145-run stand before both were removed with the score on 165.
Turner, who cracked seven fours and one six in his unbeaten 100 from 119 deliveries, and Jake Carder put on 96 before Joel Marion had the latter caught for 47 from 62.
From there the hosts began to work their way back into the game, snagging three more quick wickets to have Fremantle at 7-267.
But Turner kept the momentum going, helped by Jarryd McPhee’s quickfire 30.
Marion proved the pick of the home bowlers finishing the day’s play with figures of 6-62 from 24 overs.
Lachlan Pratt snagged one, as did Kyle Gardner.
Day two will commence 11.40am on Saturday.
