Basketball: Competition expands for Lakeside

From term 1, afternoon and evening competitions will be held at the Kennedy Baptist College Sports Centre.

Lakeside operations manager Ben Jefferies said the club needed the room after expanding to the point where it was having to turn away players.

“We have more than 7000 people coming into Lakeside each week,” he said.

“We are having to turn teams away from our competitions due to a lack of space.

“When Kennedy decided to build an outstanding sports centre with two competition-quality basketball courts, this was seen as an opportunity to increase the ties and co-operation between the two organisation.

Mr Jefferies said the move would allow an extra 50 teams to take part.

The Lakeside Recreation Centre is owned and operated by Lakeside Baptist Church.
