KEEPING out of the spotlight, a local boxer has been slowly making his way up the national rankings and now trains alongside one of the sports biggest names.

Sharing a trainer with Danny Green, Yangebup boxer Hayden Wright is ranked 27 in Australia and number 4 in WA having won his most recent bout against Kalgoorlie opponent Chris Vollmer.

He won the fight through a knock out, despite breaking his hand in the first round.

He is now preparing for a shot at the WA Heavyweight Championship in March.

Wright said his fight against Vollmer was declared the fight of the night and was looking forward to competing again in March’s big fight.

“I felt great. I had a good training camp, my best to date, and I got great sparring preparation with all the local pros,” he said.
