AUBIN GROVE brothers Eddy and Ollie Purser have booked their spots in WA’s 2016 cross-country team.

The squad will travel to Canberra in August for the School Sport competition to take on Australia’s best junior runners.

It should come as no surprise to see the Purser boys on the team list.

Both parents represented Great Britain before moving to Australia, where they now coach locally.

But the boys are already building their own reputation as talented juniors in their own right.

Eddy (9) will take on the 2km challenge in the Beeliar Primary School student’s first national championships.

“There will be a lot of good runners,” he said.

“I’ve been working on my starts, my endurance and doing a lot of running.”

Older brother Ollie (13) will take on the 4km race.

Ollie is also on a soccer scholarship at John Curtin College in Fremantle.

n Other locals competing: Ella Matthews (St Jeromes Catholic PS); Megan Bell (Aubin Grove PS); Joshua Rigoli (Seton Catholic College); Darcy Sallur (Emmanuel Catholic College).
