Former Olympians Eamon Sullivan, Jim Piper, Travis Nederpelt and Adam Lucas have teamed up with champion swimmers Mark Riley and Bobby Jovanovich for the 20km race, which will mark 60 years since Gerd von Dincklage-Schulenburg originally crossed the Rottnest Channel in 1956.
Sullivan said he did not want to miss the chance to make swimming history.
“Against all the advice, Gerd von Dincklage-Schulenburg took to the water in 1956 and paved the way for hundreds of people to swim the most iconic swimming routes in Australia,” he said.
Port to Pub committee member Ceinwen Roberts said they had big numbers already registered for the inaugural event.
