East Fremantle Croquet Club starts new season

A NEW season is underway at the East Fremantle Croquet Club, which is inviting locals to have some fun with their sport.

The club celebrated with a small party earlier this month, inviting East Fremantle Mayor Jim O’Neill to take the first hoop.

East Fremantle Croquet Club’s Kerry Loane said it was a great social sport that was easy to learn.

“When attempting to illustrate the appeal of croquet, there could be no better player to consult than our longest-serving member,” she said.

“Isabel Clucas began playing with the club in 1971 when she was 40 and had but one message: ‘I should have started earlier!’ ”
