THE WAFL state side has a new coach following the appointment of Michael Broadbridge last week.
Broadbridge, a former Claremont and AFL assistant coach, will take the reins for the May clash against the Victorian Football League (VFL) at North Port Oval.
“I am thrilled to be offered the role of WAFL state coach for this year’s game against VFL,” he said.
“I look back on my previous involvements at state level as highlights in my football career.
“To take a senior state team across to Victoria represents the ultimate challenge and it is one that I am already looking forward to.”
Broadbridge takes over the role from Darren Harris, who coached the WAFL to a 44-point victory over the SANFL in 2015 and a record 134-point win over Tasmania last year. Harris is now Claremont’s league coach.
