Fremantle Dockers: betting market opens on first win

Staff writerFremantle Gazette

A leading bookmaker has offered a market on when Fremantle will win its first game of the 2016 AFL season.

The Dockers’ woeful start to the year sees them winless after six games and mired at the foot of the AFL ladder.

And after starting last year like they might go through the season unbeaten, now bookies are pondering whether the Dockers will get on the board in 2016.

William Hill has pencilled in the home clash against the similarly hapless Richmond in Round 9 as the favourite, paying $2.65.

Next best is this weekend’s clash with GWS at Domain Stadium, paying $3.30.

And if you think the Dockers will endure the VFL/AFL’s first winless season since Fitzroy in 1964, the bookie is offering odds of $34.

Round 7 v GWS – $3.30

Round 8 v Hawthorn – $11

Round 9 v Richmond – $2.65

Round 10 v St Kilda – $8

Round 11 v Essendon – $6

Round 12 v Brisbane – $34

Round 13 v Port Adelaide – $51

Round 14 or later – $26

No wins in 2016 regular season – $34
