THERE is no such thing as being too old to pick up a hockey stick and have a run around with friends, according to the Fremantle Hockey Club.
The club is looking for mature-aged players who still have some run in their legs to join their 50s and 60s competition for the new season and no previous hockey experience is necessary.
Fremantle Men’s vice-president Matt Allen said hockey was one of the sports you could play for life.
“It’s massively important to us that we provide opportunities to play, coach and umpire right throughout the age ranges, from our four-year-old Hookin2Hockey kids to our more experienced senior members,” he said.
“Hockey is a great blend of individual skill and collective team work and there’s a field position for everyone.
“Its gender-neutral participation means there is a spot for the whole family and clubs foster a great family spirit and community.”
The club will also be launching a free Back to Hockey program later this year to entice potential players to try the sport.
