A DUO from the Fremantle Sailing Club snared bronze at the World Match Racing Tour Final in Sweden last week.

The Redline Racing team, made up of Fremantle Sailing Club’s Matt Jerwood and Alex Landwehr alongside South of Perth Yacht Club’s Patrick Vos and Niall Morrow took out third place in the international competition with a comprehensive victory in their final bout.

After going down to the Robertson Racing team 3-0 in the semi-final, the Redline Racing team came out firing in the third place decider, winning 2-0.

Jerwood said they were disappointed with their starts in the semi-final loss but were ecstatic to bring home the bronze.

“We headed into the race for third or fourth pumped and ready to put our name on the podium,” he said.

“We came out swinging, we fought hard and we sailed fast.

“Fortunately for us we were faster than our opponent Chris Steele beating him 2-0.”

As well as the medals, the team also won almost $24,000 in prize money.
