JUST weeks after donning the black and gold of WA in an Under-16 national tournament, teenage hockey star Jo Snyman has been named to wear the green and gold for Australia.
Following her performance for the bronze medal winning School Sport WA team, the Seton Catholic College student caught the eye of selectors for the School Sports Australia Under-17 girls hockey tour of Europe next year, where she will play games in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Luxembourg and Germany.
She said the national competition was an exciting one to be a part of and she was now looking forward to the tour.
“I feel very privileged to have this opportunity to play for Australia for the first time,” she said.
“I hope to learn how my skills measure up to international teams.
“No training will be done as a group until we arrive in Europe however over the next few months I have off-season training, pre-season training for my club and the 2017 hockey season will be underway before we leave.”
