TWO Seton Catholic College athletes will compete against the best in the country in the upcoming School Sports Australia Under-16 Girls Hockey tournament.

Kardinya’s Jo Snyman and Bibra Lake’s Molly Hagen, both members of the Melville City Hockey Club, were selected in the 24-player squad to represent WA in the national competition being held in Melbourne in August.

Jo said despite getting into the sport at the request of her older sister, she had grown to love everything about it.

“Hockey is my favourite because it takes my mind off everything else that is going on,” she said.

“Also I love spending time with friends and the feeling of running and exercising makes me happier.”

Molly said she was looking forward to the competition.

“I am excited about the development that is to come and the tournament itself,” she said.

It has been a big couple of weeks for Jo, who has also made the train-on group for the Under-18 Hockey WA team.

John Curtin College of the Arts’ Lisa Gleave also made the team.
