Sophie and Hayden Clarke were selected in a team of 36 from WA to compete in the 2016 School Sports Australia triathlon competition in Queensland next month.
Both students at Seton Catholic College and members of the Fremantle Triathlon Club, Sophie said they got into triathlons after watching their father compete for years.
“I enjoy it so much as it challenges me and I like the sport,” she said.
“I am going to give it my best shot but not too many expectations as I will be competing against a great field of athletes.
“I am excited and nervous at the same time,” she said.
Hayden said they would be supporting and cheering each other during the event.
Despite a similar love for the sport, Sophie said her favourite leg was the ride, while Hayden preferred the run.
The Triathlon competition is in Hervey Bay from April 18 to 21.
