EAST Fremantle Soccer Club has been crowned champions of the Women’s Metropolitan Cup Final after a come-from-behind win over Joondalup City on Sunday.

The team were two goals down and all but out of the game when a second half push saw it peg one goal back through Claire Vandermeren, then another via Tabitha Callander to level the game at 2-2 at the end of regular time.

Heading straight to a penalty shootout, East Fremantle showed nerves of steel to win the title off the back of a Rosie Lang spot kick.

East Fremantle coach Rob De Kleine was “ecstatic” with the win.

“The game plan worked out for us; we hoped to win in normal time but we got back from a couple of unlucky goals,” he said.

“All credit to the girls who kept believing in themselves and managed to get it back to 2-2 and finish it off on penalties.”
